How to Enter a Foreign University. Preparation Program

Those who want to study in other countries are set different requirements, sometimes quite strict. For study abroad it is necessary to pass language and academic courses, such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GRE, GMAT and others, to pass document competition and personal interviewing, if needed.

As a rule, Universities accept students above 18 years old. After leaving secondary school in the native country one should complete special preparation courses (Foundation), which operate at Universities on the basis of special colleges and bigger language schools having partnership relations with such Universities. Typical Foundation program includes study on academic subjects, the selection of which correlates with the chosen future specialty, learning of foreign language and acquisition of study skills.  Selection Committee starts its work in September. Beginning with the middle of June most of Universities accept documents for review.

Every year Universities receive thousands of applications from all over the world, and the vacancies are occupied according to the principle “first come first served” (according to the order of application receipt). The Committee reviews documents for maximum 4 weeks but in high periods (February-April) it can take up to 2-3 months. The process of student visa obtaining is also quite long: embassies of all countries forward high requirements to such visa documents, and decision is taken during 3-4 weeks.

That’s why we recommend starting preparation for entering Universities abroad already in October-November, that is, almost one year prior to start of classes.  For each student the happiest moment is when he or she receives the Offer Letter, which, in fact, is the admission notification.
